Leary is located in the eastern most
part of Calhoun County. City services include water,
sewage and sanitation services. DSL and phone services
are also available from Alltel and Verizon. A hardware
store, IGA grocery, restaurant, bank, library and
other conveniences make Leary a convenient place to
live and raise a family.
The railroad played a major
role in the early development of Leary. It has long
been an agricultural supply center for neighboring
plantations and farms. Some of the farm services
include a peanut mill and pecan farm support.
Still Pond Vineyard is located near Leary, one of the largest commercial grape
vineyards and winery in the State of Georgia. Over 150

Located near Leary is Deer Run
Plantation, a sprawling 8,600 acres of farmland with
422 acres of pecan orchards. Also located near Leary
is Wildemeade Plantation with its 4,500 acres of
peanuts and pecans.
Annual Christmas Parade
Home to the annual Christmas Parade,
Leary has long provided the Christmas spirit in
Calhoun County with its parade of bands and floats at
Christmas time. Visitors from all the surrounding
areas come to see and participate in this excellent
event!
